OK, yes, I know…no self-respecting fashion blogger would post without assembling a stellar outfit in every post, but I just could not help myself. There’s some new releases coming from ETD later this week and they are just so much fun! This post is all about hair, the whole hair, and nothing but the hair so help me…er…yeah.

Perfect for fall, first up we have Amber, with a texture changing cap that comes in red, tan, brown, pink, cream, black, purple and green. Next up, for the tomboy in all of us is Kit, with a texture changing cap in tan, brown, white, green, black, blue, and red. Laurie is going to strike a chord with all you cowgirls at heart out there with…you guessed it….a texture changing cap in pink, cream, light tan, black, medium tan and brown. Last but not least is Leslie, sporting pigtails with all her cuteness.

I admit I was a bit skeptical when Siyu Suen urged me to say “see you soon” to my more mainstream hairstyles and check out the Primal Hawk she had created.   And I also admit I was a quite surprised at how quickly I started to like it on me. 

Now don’t worry, I am not turning Mad Max on ya’ll.  But for 75L per color, or only 300L for a pack of all 10, this is one cool accessory to own for some wild events or even photo opportunities–I had tons of ideas swirling through my head for just such an occasion.

Now while I’d like to think I have a decent shaped face/head, I have to give credit to the creator of the skin I am wearing.  This is Smoky Disco, one of the brand new makeups for the “Jessica” skin line from Stumbelina Ophelia of Cake, who earlier today released twenty new makeups for the Golden tone.

This past week during my free time I have been digging around my inventory mixing some old stuff with some new stuff and noticed an emerging theme after two outfits–rocker chic, the 80’s way.  So I went with it and did two more.  The possibilities of this style are endless for me, so this might become a regular not-so-regular (I hate to commit myself LOL) blog theme.

With many slices of 80’s fashion infiltrating the RL scene, naturally we are seeing this revival around SL as well.   During the 80’s I was just a few years too young to experience it at it’s height.  At 8 years old, I was the biggest Madonna freak (stop laughing!); at 10, I wanted to be Molly Ringwald just so I could kiss Judd Nelson; at 13, I swore I would someday marry Vince Neil (boy am I glad I didn’t persue that, have you seen his current wife?).  Then grunge came. Grrrr!  That didn’t stop me, even though I wore flannel shirts 2 years before it was cool. 

Entering high school in 1990, my typical attire included a long, black leather coat, Iron Maiden tee, skull-print leggings and slouchy, suede boots.  I was about 4 years too late, but I didn’t give a hoot and to this day Rob Halford is still a god and Sebastian Bach is an eternal hottie.

Now you can find Iron Maiden shirts in Saks 5th Avenue–I saw it with my own eyes, didn’t dare look at the price tag.  Suede slouch boots are back in fashion, skulls are on everything including pink sweater vests (like, gag me with a spoon!), cheap silver metal bangles are everywhere, and the one fad I thought would never be remotely acceptable, let alone cool, again–leggings under mini’s.   I just hope huge, feathered hair doesn’t come back because I sold off my stock in Aqua Net years ago.   That reminds me, I should really apologize to my parents for having to change the wallpaper in the bathroom due to the massive hairspray build-up.

So while the designer’s featured in the post may or may not have meant to become part of my ”I Love the 80’s” flashback…deal with it LOL  In these days of couture madness, here’s my rebel yell…and I cried: more, more, more!

Buongiorno Miriel,

Mille grazie for the new gown! It is everything I dreamed it would be. The long sleeves are quite the proper thing for the young ladies of Venice, my Nonna approves. I especially love the silver broderie on the bodice and hem, it must have taken you hours of work to craft this, and you are a master at such handwork. Was it very difficult to find the silk and metal threads? As you know, garnet is my favorite color, the color in our familia stemma (coat of arms). The velvet is such a luxury, and how cleverly you have sewn the gathers at the back and front of the bodice! When I move it is like a waterfall of velvet flowing around me.

The head piece was a lovely surprise! Nonna agreed I might wear it without the veil, and mi Madre was able to fashion my hair into the proper style to enhance the headpiece. I shall wear the gown to carnevale with a new Columbina masque made by Signore Franco.

I enclose a portrait mi padre’s protegee has made so quickly. Can you see the silver teardrop earbobs you gave me, and the May necklace? Paolo is so clever with his paints!

I must return to my knitted lace, so I bid you arrivederci, Miriel, my oh so talented dressmaking friend. Buona Fortuna and mille grazie!

Brown suede, leather coats, peasant tops and more have me begging for the season change.  I can almost smell the crispness of new fallen leaves and hear the crunch of walking among them.  It’s 101 degrees here today.  While it can be any time of year we want in SL, sometimes a bit of RL wishes comes into play as you will see here with these 3, yes 3, pics.  I feel like I am breaking some kind of unwritten rule I have by smashing three different ensembles into one post here but lordy, I am way behind.

I know this has been blogged and mixed and mashed but I took the pic for blogging back on July 26th so…pffttt!!!    The “Angela” outfit by June Dion of Bare Rose featuring spectacular prim work, lace details that come in many colors (all in one package) and matching leather pants.  My first thought was: “I am the Lizard Queen!  I can do anything.”  Well maybe not anything, but with June’s ultra-cheap prices a trip to Bare Rose is like stumbling across top designer hidden treasures in a thrift shop.  Speaking of Bare Rose, there is a huge 2-day celebration for their 2-year anniversary coming up this weekend, details can be found on the blog.

The hair is “Artist” by Miriel Enfield of Miriel and I love the long bangs.  This is the only time I have ever, EVAHHH, purchased a “fat pack” of hair.  Fourteen colors for 290L and that is NOT a typo!  It has a prefect sculpted hairpin, which sadly doesn’t show well in this pic, that is scripted to change into gold, silver, black or completely invisible. 

Here’s one I shot way back on August 5th, which feels like 2 months instead of 11 days ago LOL  Tuli Asturias of Tuli released the “Laynie” outfit and I went nuts over it, especially having found the perfect hair for it that same day, Boho by Stumbelina Ophelia of Cake.  It’s available in 3 color combos or discounted fatpack which I fought to resist and ended up with ”Laynie Earth.”  Not only is it available in 3 color combos, but each combo comes with 3 jacket layers: one with a patterned undershirt, one plain undershirt, and one sans undershirt letting you mix and match your fave tank tops and the like. 

It comes with the skirt shown below where I tossed on a great pair of Blaze Columbia’s tights, but I also matched the top with the latest jeans from Nephilaine Protagonist of PixelDolls, the Basic Jeans in Dust (these come on both pants and underpants layer and you also get sculpty prim legs), as well as my favorite belt for the past 2 years, the strung leather belt by Fallingwater Celladoor of Shiny Things.  And don’t forget the choos! Onyx Leshelle’s Enchant heels in Guepard available at Maitreya.

And last but certainly not least, the leather coat from Siddean Munro of SLink.  Yes, it’s been blogged a thousand times over and dammit, I so knew when I ran over there the night of release, already past my bedtime, that there was no way I would be the first lmao  So I resigned myself to the fact that being able to function at RL job comes first and that I would blog it anyway   Picture first this time, more info to follow:

Originally released in just black, red and bronze, Siddean has just today added another  seven shades to the collection!  These are 300L a pop or 2400L for the fat pack of all 10.  In addition to the new colors, she has also created a shorter “skirt” as an option.  These are now included in the purchase but if you bought any before today you need to IM her  with the color you bought to receive the short one (which I did and recived no response as of yet…I am sure she is swamped, so wondering if notecards might be the better way to go?)  She was a pleasure to meet and chat with as she let me be a bit of a squatter in her store tossing clothes together while my usual homebase was “acting up.”  Pants again, as well as top (Trouble) by Neph of PixelDolls.

As much as I ADORE my poses from Luth Brodie of Reel Movement and Beauvoir Rousselot of maitreya, I’ve taken enough photos that I found myself in a rut…hitting the same stands time and time again for my snaps. LUCKILY, Lux Yao of Amaretto has tossed her hat into the avatar pose arena. I finally found the time to drop by Amaretto and check out the configurations Lux came up with. I was delighted to find not only adorable stands, but also chairs complete with charming sit animations. Here’s a sampling to get you motivated. So hurry up and sit.

As part of this post I also wanted to do a little ensemble mish mash. Closet Crisis does it best, but I wanted to try my hand at a mix and match, because honestly, I really have to find a purpose for all the forgotten pretties I’ve bought on my impulsive shopping sprees. I ran this outfit by Aradia Dielli (a kick butt mix and matcher in her own right) and she approved…so tada! my first “Heavenly Hash”.

It all started with the Jessica II hair in Chestnut (not yet released from ETD) with delightful wide brimmed hat, which set the theme for light and elegant coordinating pieces. I just HAD to include the new rouched (spelled it right this time) bustier from Savvy? in Teal under the Caroline Belted Empire blouse with puffed sleeves from Last Call. The skirt is part of the Brown Robyn Slip Dress also from Savvy? paired with Paper Couture heeless peaked toe stilettos in soil. Minimal accessories include the Mama Harper Two Strand Pearl Necklace from WorthWhile by Random Calliope and Shiny Things’ Spiral Disk bracelet. In the sitting pose, I had to substitute Choice Slacks in Beige from Nyte ‘n’ Day (thanks Aradia) because we all KNOW what prims skirts look like when you’re sitting.

/me wakes up from non-blogging coma cause it’s been a whole 6 days!

Right, so I was out shopping tonight and then realized that I should really stop until I get caught up here.  Emma Gilmour of Sand Shack Surf Co.  (main store is currently housed on Antonia Marat’s /artilleri/ sim as her new location is being constructed) has come a long way, baby!  I covered some of her items on my own blog back in February and March and even then had hopes that she’d turn into just the designing machine that she now is.

Emma covers all the bases; she offers different layers where appropriate, separates as well as fat packs and, most importantly, prices that won’t make you think twice – well, other than wanting to buy out the entire store!  I spent quite a while there carefully picking and choosing and am going to show just a couple of pieces now and I am sure these and others will turn up in future mix-n-match posts.

Featuring one of her latest first, the Hippie Skirt in black (also available in a white/gray scheme called Foggy Bay, as well as a colorful Caribe), which is both flexi and modifiable and paired with her Taggy Tank in light gray.  This ribbed tank top is available in many colors and a staple for those who love to mix-n-match.  It has the most adorable tag sticking out of the back of the top and comes in both long (jacket layer) and short (jacket and shirt layer).  In addition, I dug into my inventory to pull out one of my all-time favorite jackets, the Tweed Jacket shown in black by Nylon Pinkney.

As I was snapping the pics for this post, my guy called and asked what I was doing…I responded “Oh nuttin, just turning boho into haute couture.”  Well, all joking aside, I tried…and if I wasn’t just too damn short in RL to pull off these type of skirts, I so totally would own more of them.  This is my latest hair by Stumbelina Ophelia of Cake who is NOT letting me stay on my diet LOL and while a lot of us may have scoffed at sculptie hair at first, we need to remember that just like when flexi-prims were introduced it did take some time and finagling to get it right, and Stumbelina is, IMO, kickin’ ass at it.  The “beanie” that comes with this hair has 20 textures that change with just a click.

Next up fron Emma is her Diner top, and with or without the prim apron which comes complete with pencils, order pad and flexi tie in the back, you just gotta love it! The options and novelty of this are just too good to pass up due the the fantastic level of detail Emma put into this. Available in 9 colors, each including the Sand Shack logo and plain without logo, it was, as usual, a tough choice for me, and…sigh…after lots of contemplation I settled on the basic black for versatility. Paired here with the Tango Summer shorts in black from DoC Eldritch of DE Designs and the “Luv” hair from Kin Keiko:

to swarms of eager fashionistas. I felt like the Lil’ Last Call Shopper That Could as I chanted “I think I can…I think I can…”, willing myself through the jello-like lag that struck Last Call when the “Open for Business” sign went up.

I was persistent and darn determined to see the new goodies that Ginny and Starley had in store, and after some fancy camera maneuvering and a few “sit on a sign” jumps I was able to grab some lovelies from Last Call and then hopped over to Celestial where the shopping was definitely less agonizing. Here are a few of my faves to help you get your butt in gear and get over there to check out the new builds, and the fab new stuffies.

From Left to Right:

Joanna is a sexy zebra print mini and shiny leather tank combo. I love the texturing on the tank, and the molded to the body look is just HOT. Not much else to say…I think the outfit speaks for itself!

Kirsten is a sweet combination of soft gray trousers with two sculpted leg options (smooth and slouch) and a delicate scooped neck blouse with scultpted puffed sleeves (I am SO IN LOVE with Ginny’s sculpty sleeves…sigh!) Shown with the outfit is a new hair/hat from Starley called Moderno Devyn. It’s the same newsboy type cap that we saw with the Jennifer style, but is now paired with a sleek short razored ‘do. The bang sweeping over the left side cause ZERO issues with my prim lashes, and the flexi pieces swing and sway with every lil movement. A MUST HAVE!

Grace is a sophisticated tea length dress, perfect for dressing up or down, with beautiful beadwork accentuating the “just enough cleavage” baring neckline, and the hem of the flowing gauzy skirt.

Alais is, in my opinion, a funky casual set with LOADS of great detail, (that I didn’t seem to capture in my pic…BAD CC!! BAD BLOGGER!) The plunging neckline of the tank is gathered a bit right below the bustline adding a great elasticized visual affect, and the back is laced corset style (yes I know I know…I should have taken a piccy of the back, but go look at the vendor boards and you’ll see what I mean…it looks better on Ginny anyway *wink*). The cranberry colored trousers feature Ginny’s standard slouchy and smooth leg options as well as brown piping around the waist and a hip brown stripe down the sides of the legs. I paired it with the Annie May hair from Celestial which isn’t new (I don’t think), but it’s new to me.

Tatienne is a set that includes a great pair of dark washed jeans and sculpted sleeve, lacy shirt in FOUR colors. I have SO many plans for mixing and matching these tops. I just adore the hint of lace peeking out of the neckline. The hair is another hat/hair combo from Celestial. This time the short razored Moderno cut is paired with the brown Keith cowboy style hat.

So yeah…it was totally worth the wait.

Yesterday Queue Marlowe of Analog Dog asked me to model her new flexi braid hair “Ayla” and I couldn’t wait to blog it and share the distinctive style.

Ayla is a precious addition to the Analog Dog flexi hair collection with prim and texturing details that are just adorable. With detachable sideswept bangs, the style features a middle part that is gathered into prim french braids that circles the crown. The remainder of the waist length hair is twisted into five textured braids that swing and sway in usual Analog realistic movement. I think this style is so versatile and perfect for period looks, casual beach wear, or just about anything you choose to pair it with.

Just in time for the M2 Fashion Angels Heavenly Wedding contest, Hyasynth Tiramisu and Calico Ingmann collaborated together on a dress set and wedding hairstyle for Calico’s wedding on July 19. The result is stunning, as you can see for yourself at ~silent sparrow~ or at Calico Kitty, or in my little slide show.

I almost regret that my own wedding was months ago because I probably would have chosen this set for my wedding dress and my bridesmaids. Not every bride wants a traditional white wedding, and given the chance to do it over, I’d go with the ~silent sparrow~/Calico Kitty set in Sea. The colors meld together like watercolor flowers, shades of blue, green and aqua which look so good with almost any skin tone.

The dress itself is a work of art. The scrollwork embroidery on the bodice and layers of flexi tulle in the skirt and veil is beautifully hand drawn, giving such a delicate effect. There is a sort of winged bustle included on the flexi skirt of the dress which balances the minimal strapless bodice. The shading actually reminded me of Fallingwater Cellardoor’s flowers at Shiny Things, prompting me to change location halfway through my photo shoot to compare. Prior to that I was eyeing blue primroses and winter scenery at Heart Garden Center, another fantastic place to visit and shop and to fill out the flower portion of your own SL wedding.

I love the versatility of this dress as well. It comes in 8 colors, which makes it perfect for purchasing for your bridesmaids to match your wedding theme. My other favorite shade of this set was Rainbow, and goths will not be disappointed because the dress comes in red, though not black. (“Married in black, you’ll wish yourself back,” as Ma used to say in Little House on the Prairie *smiles*).

I really really love the hair, and have been wearing it exclusively since I purchased it. Calico has won my heart, and I actually did wear one of her styles at my own wedding. The Tanned and Bronzed shades are my favorites. I love hair with bangs that kind of fall into the face obscuring one eye, and this hair seemed like it was made for me in that department. As usual, you get four different hairstyles with one color choice, three of them tipped in different shades. This hair also comes with all the veils for the wedding dress, which is going to be fun for different occasions such as masquerade balls.
