Woohooo more costume goodness from A Touch of Ireland! It’s for gypsies, costume lovers, people who like celtic knot embroidery and people who enjoy poofy skirts. Oh, and people who play the tambourine. I think that just about covers it. Oh yes, it’s very lovely too and look at the colours!

The overall look of the outfit is beautiful, however for the sake of a fair review I have to say that the seams, prim accessories and shoes do leave a bit to be desired. If you’re particularly picky (like me) and delete, give away or consign outfits to your ’stuff never worn’ folder when you realise it’s not quite as good as it was in the picture, then this outfit will be a dissapointment. Of course you don’t have to wear the prim accessories and you could always grow excessively long underarm hair to cover the seams (like me).

I admit I was a bit skeptical when Siyu Suen urged me to say “see you soon” to my more mainstream hairstyles and check out the Primal Hawk she had created.   And I also admit I was a quite surprised at how quickly I started to like it on me. 

Now don’t worry, I am not turning Mad Max on ya’ll.  But for 75L per color, or only 300L for a pack of all 10, this is one cool accessory to own for some wild events or even photo opportunities–I had tons of ideas swirling through my head for just such an occasion.

Now while I’d like to think I have a decent shaped face/head, I have to give credit to the creator of the skin I am wearing.  This is Smoky Disco, one of the brand new makeups for the “Jessica” skin line from Stumbelina Ophelia of Cake, who earlier today released twenty new makeups for the Golden tone.

But getting back to the exotically charming “Mask Lady,” the Primal Hawk is available on Siyu’s beautiful sim, Carnivale, and while you are there be sure to grab the boxes of Retired Freebies and the cleverly named Victims of Siyu’s Rabid Perfection.  These are not your run-of-the-mill, half-assed freebies.  Siyu includes everything from masks to horns, and hats to headdresses.   If you’re interested in reading more about how the Primal Hawk came to be, check out Siyu’s blog post.

This past week during my free time I have been digging around my inventory mixing some old stuff with some new stuff and noticed an emerging theme after two outfits–rocker chic, the 80’s way.  So I went with it and did two more.  The possibilities of this style are endless for me, so this might become a regular not-so-regular (I hate to commit myself LOL) blog theme.

With many slices of 80’s fashion infiltrating the RL scene, naturally we are seeing this revival around SL as well.   During the 80’s I was just a few years too young to experience it at it’s height.  At 8 years old, I was the biggest Madonna freak (stop laughing!); at 10, I wanted to be Molly Ringwald just so I could kiss Judd Nelson; at 13, I swore I would someday marry Vince Neil (boy am I glad I didn’t persue that, have you seen his current wife?).  Then grunge came. Grrrr!  That didn’t stop me, even though I wore flannel shirts 2 years before it was cool. 

Entering high school in 1990, my typical attire included a long, black leather coat, Iron Maiden tee, skull-print leggings and slouchy, suede boots.  I was about 4 years too late, but I didn’t give a hoot and to this day Rob Halford is still a god and Sebastian Bach is an eternal hottie.

Now you can find Iron Maiden shirts in Saks 5th Avenue–I saw it with my own eyes, didn’t dare look at the price tag.  Suede slouch boots are back in fashion, skulls are on everything including pink sweater vests (like, gag me with a spoon!), cheap silver metal bangles are everywhere, and the one fad I thought would never be remotely acceptable, let alone cool, again–leggings under mini’s.   I just hope huge, feathered hair doesn’t come back because I sold off my stock in Aqua Net years ago.   That reminds me, I should really apologize to my parents for having to change the wallpaper in the bathroom due to the massive hairspray build-up.

So while the designer’s featured in the post may or may not have meant to become part of my ”I Love the 80’s” flashback…deal with it LOL  In these days of couture madness, here’s my rebel yell…and I cried: more, more, more!

Yeah, I had to reference an old hair metal tune for the title, cause well…that’s just me.

An apparent jester craze has come out of nowhere as Siyu Suen of Illusions says on her blog there must have been something in the air because none of the creators were in cahoots or even aware of the other’s creations.  We had the Jester outfits from DoC Eldritch of DE Designs; Siyu’s Harlequin Caps and Jester Horns with jingly sounds (turnoffable), plus her Harlequin belts and ruffs; and Munchflower Zaius of Nomine whipped up a new line of skins called “Pierrot” featuring 10 makeups.

I had so much fun tonight mixing and matching all of these to show you and regretfully I only have the demos of the Pierrot skins.  Oh how I love them, but my bank account is just not conducive to novelty skins right now *sad clown*  So if you can ignore the word Pierrot that’s branded across my body in the images below, I suggest you go have a look for yourself at Nomine.

Deviating just slightly from the jester clothing theme, when I went for the Pierrot demos I noticed what appeared to be a new dress from Munch called “Kiera”.  Grabbed it.  Mixed it up with some more of Siyu’s fantabulous re-releases that she has updated since the sculptie revolution and voila!  There is something just truly beautiful about the flexi skirt in that while it looks basic black, Munch did an execllent job of adding just the right amount of texture that stands out when you see it in person.  The flexi flow is superb as well and for 300L you just can’t go wrong.

As I try to get my mind off a pending dentist appointment this afternoon, I thought I would share some recent eye releases. Often overlooked, eyes can really add more dimension to your avie’s overall look. Thankfully we have creators such as Miriel Enfield and Zada Zenovka to offer us great choices in this department. There are many styles, types and colors available around the grid: natural, anime, wild; larger or smaller pupils and irises; and every color you can imagine.

Miriel Enfield of Miriel has long been my eye maker of choice and she goes above and beyond by allowing you to choose which permissions you would like: Copy/Mod/No Trans, or No Copy/Mod/Trans.  Renowned for her jewel-crafting, Miriel’s newest eye release is the Luminous Collection which consists of two different 4 packs, available for only 125L or singles for 50L. These totally hand-drawn eyes are available in two different sizes, “the standard SL eye size, and a smaller, more realistic size” as Miriel tells us on her blog.

Zada Zenovka of Shapes by Zada, custom and ready to wear shapes, has ventured into eye creation with the release of EyeFidelity. These are hand drawn as well, currently available in 20 colors and 2 sizes: Ideal Eyes based on the SL standard and Ideal Eyes which are approximately 15% smaller making them closer to the size of RL eyes. Zada adds yet another layer of innovation to her eyes though (as far as I am aware she is the first to do this, and apologies if I am mistaken.) With each color you get 3 sets of eyes, each featuring different highlighting and pupil sizes for indoor, neutral and outdoor atmospheres. Admittedly that’s more of a novelty than a necessity, but a nice little bonus that may come in handy for photos especially. Currently these are available for 100L per color choice, or fatpacks of 5 colors for 360L.

Charissa Korvin of DMMDI (Devil Made Me Do It) has a knack for making some wild accessories in addition to the previously covered Dark Talon Boots.  This Dark Talon Jingasa hat (a samurai warrior hat) is one to have a lot of fun with.  With 2 positions, up or down, with just a simple click, it’s 144 prims of samurai sin.  I got kinda Mortal Kombat nostalgic wearing it

I’ve been on the lookout for a new tattoo and I saw this one by Carmilla Mirabeau in the SL Forums I knew I had to take a closer look.  Her store is called Isle’s Ink and this Asian Tat was just what I’d been waiting for.  It’s tintable, however I like the softness of the default just fine.

June Dion’s Bare Rose offers a plethora of clothing including, but not limited to, many fantasy/RP styles.  While not an RP’er, I do like to indulge in the unconventional at times.   Bare Rose makes it hard to resist with incredibly affordable prices.  The Masked Executioner (also available in a men’s version, Masked Assasin) is a great example.  Many pieces, many options and just plain bad ass!

You are looking at a VERY happy girl! Other than grabbing the Limited Edition Sea Nymph set and hair on Thursday, I haven’t really done much shopping this week. I made up for it today, though, and boy oh boy did I find some things that I LURVE!!

 Kara Eagle of Karamia has FINALLY released her skin line that I have been eagerly awaiting. It’s beautiful and oh so scrummy. I’ll be covering it in a proper feature in the upcoming M2 issue, so stay tuned for that on Tuesday, but I couldn’t RESIST giving you a sneak peak, spreading the word and urging you to go try demos NOW. Maitreya was my first stop where i picked up these gorgeous buttery suede Dune boots. The calf prims are sculpted and the realism of the slouch affect is AMAZING. Available in 7 colors and shown here in Burgundy, the Dunes were so irresistable I picked up the fatpack. Also from Maitreya, a wrap top in a shimmery and exquisitely textured floral. The top is packaged with a jeweled prim brooch (which I forgot to attach for this picture). Fabric choices include olive (shown here), blue, pink, and royal, but alas I HAD to have the fatpack. Maitreya was also an animation and pose WONDERLAND for me. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog viddy highlighting my favorite walks and animated stands and poses.

My hair is the limited release Sea Nymph in Sea Drift from ETD. Elika truly outdid herself with this hair in an over the shoulder ponytail and also a version that hangs straight in the back. This hair has been blogged quite a bit, but clearly it’s beautiful and complements this skin perfectly.
